Monastic Bible, Circa 1250

The following leaves are from a medieval manuscript Bible, Paris, France
 In Latin, On Vellum. 174 X 112 mm. There are fifty-five lines of double column text in
microscopic-miniscule Gothic Script. 
Both Recto and corresponding Verso are displayed on the next two pages.

Book headings, chapter
numbers, two large versal initials "F" and "A" in blue and red pen work with large dragons and lovely contemporary annotations of the monks. Leviticus Chapters 9-11. Verso: One versal initial "L".*
Book headings, chapter numbers, two versal initials "P" and "P" alternating in red and blue pen work with large dragons in alternating color.   Ecclesiasticus, Samuel. Verso: Two very large versal initials "O" and "U"  alternating in red and blue ink with lovely dragons.*
Book headings, chapter numbers, with one large versal initial "I" in blue and red pen work with a large dragon and one large versal initial "P" in blue and red pen work with large dragon.  The Prophecy of Isaias.  Chapters 39-42. Verso: One large versal initial "I" in blue and red pen work with a large dragon and one large versal initial "E" in blue and red pen work with a large dragon.*

There are three columns of fifty-five lines in microscopic-miniscule Gothic script in brown in, from the last pages of the Bible, alphabetically listed the interpretation of the Hebrew names, section "G".  Each name begins with "G" alternating in red and blue pen work.  Dragons identify the change in the second.*
